I made a deal

with the devil  my husband. He says I have an addiction and that I would feel empty without my computer. I say he's wrong. So he challenged me to stay off the computer for the whole weekend, and since I'm competative  I can't pass up a challenge  I have to prove him wrong  I need to spend more time with the kids anyway, I decided to take on the challenge. So, I'm going dark for the whole weekend. That means no twitter, no facebook, no blogging (gulp), no photoshop (double gulp)... maybe I do have a problem.

So, with the exception of 1 blog post, I'll be gone. For the entire weekend.  This one blog post, by the way, will be written by moi, by hand, and then typed up and posted by the devil my husband himself! I got the one blog post because of a certain holiday coming up this weekend. Shhhh, don't tell my mom though. It's a surprise! He agreed to type and post it for me only if he got to fix any grammatical and spelling errors. *sigh*

Since James will have semi control over my blog this weekend, do you have anything you'd like to ask him? Maybe he'll give in, just this once, and answer some questions. Maybe. No guarantees though.

I am a Bath Junkie

When I was a kid, there was a commercial on tv that I still remember today. They had a slew of kids telling the audience what they wanted to be when they grew up.

~Little boy says "I want to be a fireman when I grow up!" Little girl says "I want to be a ballerina when I grow up" Voice over comes on with a picture of a man smoking and says "Nobody ever says they want to be a junky when they grow up"~

Obviously, they've never heard of Bath Junkie. I won a gift certificate from Becca to this fabulous store. I'll admit, at first I wasn't too thrilled about this giveaway. They have bath products for crying out loud. I have plenty of bath products at home! Oh, how wrong I was! Becca, Melanie, Pauline and I visited the store before they left to go back to Tuscon.

When you walk into the store, the first thing you see is this. This is a scents bar. It’s like heaven in little blue bottles of scented liquid. More on that later.

The nice sales lady

Pitched us a demonstration of 2 of their products. She led us towards these beautiful sinks that I am now coveting. I need this sink in my bathroom.

She poured warm water into our hands then scooped this goop into our palms. She said to rub our hands together like we were washing them. It kinds felt like washing my hands with sand and didn’t see the benefit of it because sand is dirty. She poured more water onto our hands to wash the sandy goop off, but didn’t let us dry them yet. She then sprayed another goop (this one didn’t feel like sand, so I felt a little better about this one) into our hands and told us to rub it in like lotion. When there was no more rubbing to be done, she handed each of us a towel to dry our hands off with. This was my turning point from upstanding citizen to Bath Junkie. My hands were so soft and smooth and had just the slightest hint of perfume to them. I was hooked.

The sales lady told us their store worked. All the bath products are completely customizable.

Step 1: You pick your bath product.

Most of the containers are empty because they fill them right there in the store. I chose the body scrub and body dessert, because I was so impressed with them.

Step 2: Pick your scent.

We spent a lot of time playing with the different scents. They have books and binders of different things you can mix together to make a certain scent. The lady made “birthday cake” for us, and I wanted to sniff the little piece of paper all day long!

Melanie grabbed one of the books and started mixing the different flavors herself. I think she went through the entire book while we were there. We decided she should open her own store in Tucson!

Step 3: Making the bath products and adding color.

Really, did you think I would choose something other then green? This is me we’re dealing with!

Before she put the finished scrub back into the tub, she let me sniff it!

I even let someone else touch my camera *GASP*

Since Becca was a seasoned Bath Junkie, she all ready knew what she wanted; a bath ball.

So her and I wandered the store looking at all the other stuff they had.

These are soaps in the shape of fortune cookies. So Cute

Bath salts in an ice cream cup. Love it!

And what would a bath store be without ducks?

Except, not all of them were this cute. They also had evil ducks.

Monkey ducks, zebra ducks, tiger ducks, lion ducks. Even an elephant duck that we lovingly named Elephaduck. I just now thought of another name for that duck, but this is a family friendly blog, so I won’t say it. I’ll just say, remove the a and d from the middle.

So, thank you Becca

For making a Bath Junkie out of me.

And thank you Melanie

And Pauline

For turning into Bath Junkies with me!

Oh, something else I learned when we went to the Yard House for lunch.

Did you know when you order ice tea from the menu, you’re actually ordering Black Tea? I did not know that until yesterday. Now, we’ve all learned something new!

(In the interest of full disclosure, 1. I did not get paid in any form by Bath Junkie to promote their store or their products and 2. The commercial mentioned above is for a drug free America from I don’t even know how long ago. I am an advocate of a drug free America; so don’t do drugs. And if you are, then stop. Unless it’s legal, then drug away according to your doctors instructions.)

Bloggy Boot Camp part 1

It's been an amazing day. I met so many awesome women (and some men). I got to meet Becca who's just amazing in real life as she is on her blog. Melanie is a fellow seamstress (only way better then me!) and quite possibly loves Dt. Dr. Pepper more then me. I got to meet SheyB; you know, the camera strap girl!

There were so many great, amazing, awesome, fantastic women, bloggers, moms there; I couldn't even begin to name them all. I'm so thankful that my wonderful husband wouldn't let me back out when I begged him. Oh yes, I begged; I pleaded; I promised sexual favors if only he'd let me not go to this thing. He would.not.budge! And I am so glad he didn't.

I have lots to share with you, but my brain is fried and a headache has claimed the rest of my evening. I hear John wheezing behind me, so I'm hoping a dose of albuteral takes care of that; and a dose or two or three of advil will take care of my headache.

If none of this made sense, so sorry. I'll work on better content tomorrow.

boytrapped

There once lived a mom who lived in a house full of boys. It started with just one, the love of her life; but quickly became 2. The new babe fit so well into this family, but years down the road they discussed adding a little femaninity to the mix; or at least, that's what they were hoping for. 'But God' had other plans and blessed this mom with yet another boy. Bringing the boy talley up to 3. More years passed, and it was decided that FIL should be added to the daily mix as well. Now this mom is living with 4 boys.

They smell weird and make funny noises from orafaces that are better left to the imagination. The little boys pick their noses and eat the treasure within. The big boys play video games and curse at the t.v.; and mom? She wouldn't have it any other way. (except for the cursing, she's threatened lives and snacks if it continues)

As Gary, John and I were walking into church one Sunday morning, I was holding John's hand as he walked on my right and Gary's hand as he walked on my left. Gary looked up at me (he was a few years younger then, so looking 'up' was still possible) and said, "Mommy, you're boy trapped!" How right he was.

So, welcome to boytrapped! It's not quite my own domain, but I like it!

And a huge thank you to Becca for designing my banner and my soon to be button and my business cards!

Oh yea, I'm like a profossional and stuff!

I hope you like the changes! After this weekends conferance and the recovery period, I'm sure I'll have lots more to share as I learn more about this whole blogging thing!

The difference in randomition

Today’s random post is different then the normal randomonium in that my regular random posts have no rhyme or reason to them. I just sit down and write whatever comes to mind. Today’s random post is due to several things on my mind that could probably fill 2 or 3 posts, but I’m too lazy to write that much. Either that or when I write more then one post a day, my comments suffer for it. *Yes, I’m a comment whore. I freely admit it. kthanksbye

First on today’s agenda: Bloggy Boot Camp – and my confession to being a social retard.

I blame my brother, my elementary school, the bullies who picked on me; pretty much anything to shift the blame off myself for my social awkwardness. Yes, I know I’m a grown up now, and the vices that held me down are gone, but those fears of rejection still hold me in their tight grips. All I wanted was to be accepted, have a group of friends to call my own, a posse. But that was hard when you had a brother 1 year older then you who spent his time terrorizing teachers, drinking behind the band room and smoking in the bathroom. His reputation for being horrid and weird passed on to me and I was too much of an introvert to do anything about it. They called me names, threw rocks at me and destroyed my property. I had one saving grace in elementary school and that was my friend Ginger. She didn’t care that I was unpopular and she didn’t let what the other kids say get to her. She was unpopular by association, but she still remained my friend.

I guess, I’ve let my past fears grow with me and my natural introvertedness (is that a word? MS Word says it’s not) has stayed with me. This is not a good combination when you’re thrown into a social setting of (mostly) perfect strangers. It’s not so bad when that social setting is online. I have my computer screen to hide behind. My thoughts come out exactly as I want them to. There’s no awkward silence when you’ve said something dumb (that happens a lot, just warning the BBC girls now); but face to face? Where people can hear my voice, see my face and my expressions?! They get to know the real me behind all the insanity that is this blog. I’m terrified.

But it’s time I put my big girl panties on; and if the BBC girls don’t like me or my weirdness, then that’s ok. I’m stepping out of my fear. I’m no longer going to let the past decide my future. God has me in the palm of his hand and He says ‘Fear Not’ 365 times.

Second on today’s agenda: Gary – and an official diagnosis

We’ve struggled the past couple years with Gary and school. This year has been especially hard, and I think each year will get progressively harder (I’m fairly certain that’s how school works, but I can’t be sure). Gary is a very disorganized kid. In second grade his teacher took everything out of his desk and made him use a bucket until he could keep the bucket organized. When his bucket got out of control, she moved his stuff to a shelf in the class room. All his school work remained on the shelf until the end of the school year. Organization is not his strong suit.

Neither is getting school work done. It’s not that he’s having difficulties learning. When you ask him a question about what was taught, he’ll not only give you the answer, but he’ll give you all the additional information that is not required to know. This kid is smart! But he’s not very good at putting it down on paper. He goes off into his own little world when he’s made to sit still and do paperwork. At the end of any given week, he’ll be sent home with 6-10 class room assignments that were due on Friday. But because he didn’t get them done, they are sent home to do over the weekend. Then I stand over him with “whip and chain” just to make sure he gets them done and even then I’ll go over them and there’ll be answers left blank.

These issues with school have led us to a child psychologist. He gave me a booklet with 300+ questions and a ‘bubble test’ for lack of a better word. The next session included playing games with Gary that had him following directions and demonstrate patience. The official diagnosis is ADHD. That is not what I wanted to hear, but it is what we suspected. He said it wasn’t so severe that he recommended medication, but he gave us some idea’s to use with him to help change some of the behavior issues we’re having. I think just having the diagnosis is a weight off my shoulders. We know what we’re dealing with and we can help him in a way that best suits him. There are many different options to look and pray through; but at the end of the day he’s still my sweet boy.

***

Last on my agenda: John – and the fact that he’s a monster.

He’s the cutest, wildest, funniest little monster in the whole wide world.

New Comment Form

Update:

It's been brought to my attention that there is no comment link at the bottom of the post. I just contacted Intense Debate to see if this could be fixed. If you'd like to leave me a comment in the mean time, the comment box will appear if you click on the post header. Thanks all!

Original Message:
Hello Bloggies!

I just installed a new comment form, Intense Debate, so that I can easily reply to comments you leave on my posts. I really hope I didn't just screw up my whole blog and have to start from scratch cause that would totally suck! I suppose I feel somewhat oblicated to keep you entertained while I'm testing this new comment form out, so here are some pictures of my kids.

Gary age 4, rockin' out on daddy's electric drumset.

Gary age 4, on vacation in Pinetop

I think Gary was much taller then John at this age.

John age aprox 4 hours, Gary age 5
These are the boys who keep me 'boy trapped'

I can't thank you enough

So I'll say it with a picture

Photobucket

I might be a small blog, but I've got regular commenters! And I am so very thankful for their support, encouragement and laughs! I've met so many great woman since I started blogging, and while choosing which bloggers to thank this time around was easy, I hope there will be many more of these to come!

Ruth
Photobucket

The first and longest follower, commenter, blogging friend is known in my comments as RaD. Well, that pretty much describes her. She is RAD! {kinda feel like I'm back in the 80's} She's got a heart for God and serving other's. She dares you to be used by God and lives it everyday. Ruth has 2 adorible kids, and if I ever get the chance, I will braid Bethany's hair! I loved her Christmas vacation series and learned you can take great photographs with a point and shoot!

Mrs. Nurse Boy
Photobucket

Mrs. Nurse Boy has much to smile about and who wouldn't with 2 strapping young men and the cutest little Sweet Pea! Oh, and Mr. Nurse Boy who tortures his kids! She's a faithful follower of Christ with a sweet spirit and is raising her kids to follow as well.

Amanda
Photobucket

Amanda is mommy and she is baker. She is best known in blog land for her baking and more particularly, her cookies. I'm so glad I clicked on her blog, without which, I might be 20lbs lighter! While her confections are appealing,  what impresses me most about Amanda is her humble heart. She loves Jesus and strives to find God's will in everything she does. I just don't know how she finds the time for all that baking and still raise 3 adorible kids. She is super mom!

Becca
Photobucket

Becca is one of my newest blog friends. She has a couple of crazy boys who say the darndest things. She finds the funny in everyday life, never misses an opportunity to learn something new and when you visit her blog, make sure you read through her comments! Guess what else? She's enjoying the warmer winter weather of AZ too!

Ladies, it has been a pleasure getting to know you through your blog. You inspire me and I'm looking forward to long bloggy (and maybe one day in real life) friendships!

100 post eve

This is my 99th post, which makes it the 100th post eve. I never thought I would stick with it this long; you know, with the A.D.D. and all. I tend to have great ideas and follow through to a point, then give up.

So, in celebration of my 100th post... I have no idea what I should do for it. Clever, huh?

Will you tell me what you did, if you did something special. You know, so I can copy you. Or twist it into something totally random so that it's uniquely me.
